   When using a very dark filter, you need to focus and frame your shots without the filter on, attach your filter then adjust your exposure...all this with your camera mounted on a tripod to stabilize your focus and framing and reduce jitter because you'll probably need to use a slow shutter speed. Of course this means all the poses need to be carefully thought out and doesn't lend much to spontaneity.

   @nykonartist For sure, for sure. I am very impatient with unscrewing filters, so after I remembered I checked the distance then took it from there.

   @nykonartist Fortunately with even compensated f/stops of +5, I was still at f/8 or f/5.6, shutter 1/60 or 1/125s.
