Acid Wash on Film: A Gallery by Yulia Perminova

2

The daylight during the spring and summer seasons is like no other, especially for the film photographer. The colors of the world become iridescent when captured in analogue style. Such is the work of Lomographer Yulia Perminova a.k.a. yulia_paix, who adds more colorful chemical and physical reactions onto their negatives.

Yulia's photographs intrinsically have the spirits of spring and summer in them with the sunny mood and bright pastel colors. And just like summer, they look fleeting and momentous. The intentional blurs and distress on the negatives give a fading and transient sensation.

To achieve such a style, Yulia uses several methods. Among these techniques are the film soak/film soup, multiple exposures, light leaks, vignette frames and physical distress on the negatives. She also uses cameras that are capable of creating specific, ambient compositions and vintage effects such as the Diana F+, Holga 120 CFN, Lomo LC-A, Sprocket Rocket and the Lomography Simple Use Reloadable Film Camera.
