Hi Simone, welcome back to our Online Magazine! What equipment did you use with DigitaLIZA Max to scan these negatives?

Hi! To test the new DigitaLIZA Max I used my iPhone and my DSLR. I chose to use two devices so different from each other just to see the potential of the new kit. In fact, with the iPhone I wanted to emulate what I normally do with a new negative, which is having a preview of the images, but in this case I did not just simply view the negatives but I also digitized them with a good quality. Instead, with the DSLR, I wanted to digitise the negative, obtaining an excellent result!

How did you find using this brand new kit?

Great! The system is very easy to use and very intuitive, which is essential. The structure is light but at the same time very strong!

Any tips or tricks for those trying this scanning kit for the first time?

The only advice I can give is to try with several devices (smartphone, SLR, digital compact, etc.) in order to find your perfect combination. I prefer to use the SLR.

Have you ever done DIY scanning before? If so, with what equipment? And could you compare it to the DigitaLIZA Max kit?

I have used some smartphone app that does everything, reverses the colours of the negative etc. I didn't like them very much, they create an unsightly matt effect! But with the DigitaLIZA Max kit, thanks also to the backlit panel, the scans came out as sharp as when using a scanner.

Is there any feature that particularly impressed you?

The way you assemble the whole system that allows to use it with any film.

What program did you use to invert the images?

I mainly used Adobe Photoshop to invert the images, and Adobe CameraRaw to correct the lighting and colour temperature. I took the photos of the negatives in Raw, adjusted the parameters and then cropped and inverted the colours in Photoshop.
