Recap: LomoWalk Metropolis X NYC

LomoWalks are making a comeback, as we hope to bring the film community closer together now that the world is slowly opening back up. This April, in collaboration with NYC Film Lab and Beers and Cameras NY, we made a stop in New York City and spent an early evening photographing the sights of Williamsburg and Bushwick. See Brooklyn in LomoChrome Metropolis film through the eyes of some of the participating photographers!

“Metropolis: Shiny, chromey, with bright grays was a great compliment to the walk through industrial area Brooklyn"

"I tend to shoot everyday life and I love how the grittiness of Lomochrome Metropolis makes it a perfect stock for street photography. I love the overall desaturated tones but noticed that there are still some colors that pop. The cool thing is the ability to control just how gritty you want it. I noticed it tends to get more grainy in low light scenes which I didn't mind at all. I rated it at 320 and was impressed at how clean portraits were while still maintaining its gritty characteristic."

"I ditched work early in order to join this walk, and it was worth it. I would definitely do it again. It was nice to see familiar faces after a few years and pick up as if nothing had changed and to meet a new and wide range of photography loving people. Also the beer."

"This is only my second time using Metropolis and I am quite pleased with the results, I found it to be unexpectedly sharp!. The photos were taken at ISO 400, I am curious to see how it behaves at lower ISO and more dramatic light, like a 1pm sun."

"Was so nice to meet everyone at the LomoWalk! I've been involved in a few analogue photography things around NYC but it was the first LomoWalk I participated in."

"Truly had a blast meeting so many new folks as well as a few I've only been friends with online until now! Thanks for coordinating this event. The Metropolis film stock is one of my absolute favorites to use in industrial areas like we saw on our walk in East Williamsburg and Bushwick as it creates interesting and uniquely desaturated tones that are still jam packed with tons of texture and details. I always recommend Metropolis for folks looking to dip their toes into experimental film."
