Hi Coko, could you introduce yourself to the readers of our Online Magazine?

Hi! I'm a photographer from Castellón de la Plana who lives in Conil de la Frontera, Cadiz, near the sea. I work as a photographer and run the project It´s Only Water, a Studio where we offer longboard and water photography workshops.

Tell us about your background. When did your journey into photography begin?

I started shooting when a good friend of mine gave me as a present a Canon AE-1, which is still one of my favorite cameras. I learned everything by myself and when I bought a Nikonos V when I was traveling around California, I completely fell in love with everything around analogue underwater photography and the romantic process which involves every film you shoot and develop, so for some years I just focused on that.

Tell us about this fantastic photographic series. Where was it taken?

This series was taken near my house, in Conil de la Frontera, a pretty seaside town, in the streets of the fishing area with my friend Jon Garmendia during his visit here. He was here some weeks shaping longboards, enjoying the good weather and surfing a lot.

Which cameras did you use?

I used for the first time the Minolta 35DL weathermatic. It was a bit weird to me to use the automatic focus as I'm not used to it.

What soundtrack would you accompany these photos with?

The album Aromanticism from Moses Sumney.

These photos were taken with the Potsdam Kino B&W film and and our classic Color Negative 400 film. Was it the first time to use Lomography films? And which features did you like most?

Yes, it was the first time I used Lomography films and I really like them. From the Potsdam Kino B&W I love the greyscale, its amazing and I love to see how the results look, while from the Color Negative 400, even though I normally shoot with more light and not during sunsets, I liked the results.

What are the challenges you encounter when documenting the surf scene?

One of my challenges is trying not to fall into the typical surf photography I'm tired of seeing.

What are the ideal conditions for taking this kind of photos?

In the water when the light is bright, so I love shooting in the water during sunny days.
