Visiting the Canyonlands was extremely epic. The topography is totally unreal. I met my best friend/art hero/gardening mentor Shelby Batalla out there. We hiked all day and camped in the park.

There was a meteor shower that night. We slept in 19 degree (fahrenheit) weather. I used Wim Hof breathing techniques to stay warm through the night. It worked. I shot so much film, some rolls I forgot that I had already shot through, and enjoyed a lot of unexpected results. The whole trip was a trip. I really cherish the memories.

The place looks like Mars, dude. It's unlike anything I've ever seen before. You kind of have to experience it to believe it, let's just say that.

I highly recommend waking up early to watch the sunrise over the arch. If you know, you know. We visited in November when the land was littered with small patches of snow on the ground, which made for some really epic scenery.

I'd recommend that time of year for sure, but it's all I know. You're lucky if you make it out that way at all, so just enjoy the trip, man!
